If you buy the full course you will get to participate in 4 two hour live zoom classes on May 27, 28 and June 3,4. The topics include, odd time signatures, metric modulations, polyrhythms and harder forms of the triplets. There will be accompanying pdf's, playlists and suggested assignments (the same assignments which I have given to my Royal Academy of Music jazz students in London). I have designed intuitive exercises for all instrumentalists to help them internalize these rhythms.
The focus will then be on how to apply these hard rhythms to musical and compositional situations, rather than treating them as cold, scientific, technical exercises, as often found on YouTube. I will be teach using musical examples from jazz artists I have had the pleasure of working with over the years - Jeff "Tain" Watts, Ari Hoenig, Will Vinson, Wayne Krantz, Miles Okazaki, David Sanchez... I will also reference my own music and other innovators of rhythm in jazz, such as Steve Coleman, Ignacio Berroa, Dan Weiss, Miguel Zenon...
You can also purchase each class individually for a slightly higher price.
There are 2 time slot options per day 6am EST (11am London time) & 1pm EST (6pm London time)
For those who can't attend - I will be uploading the videos to Gumroad afterwards, so you will be able to access the classes whenever you like.
Once you purchase the course you will receive an email with the zoom links for each class (check all inboxes). In the email, you will get links for both time slots, so please make sure you pick the right one and only attend 1 slot per day. Nearer the time I will send you the accompanying pdfs and playlist to prepare you for the course. Please reach out to leflemingbass@gmail.com if there are problems receiving the link.
